An assumption that a lot of people make is that once you reach a certain age, learning to sing becomes impossible. Well, I call bull on that one, because I have successfully worked with many adults who are well into their 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s - I've even worked with a set of 82-year-old identical twins! Your voice is an instrument, and learning to sing is a skill that anyone can learn and improve upon, as long as you have the patience and the will to do so. The only thing that age does make more challenging, is the reversal of bad physical habits like poor posture, tight muscles, etc. However, even those bad physical habits can be reversed with enough time, stretching, and body work! With my older students, I tend to focus much more on alignment and body work like massage and trigger point therapy, which aids greatly in the ease of vocal production. Many of my students have benefitted from better posture, easier breathing, and less pain through doing this work with me, as well as significant improvements in their singing voices. If you feel like you're too old to learn a new skill, that's just your self-doubt talking - Call it's bluff, and put yourself to the test! You may be very surprised with what comes of it. :)
